Dyllan McGee is a documentary filmmaker and founder of McGee Media. In partnership with Peter Kunhardt, McGee produced “Gloria: In Her Own Words”, “Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates, Jr.”, “MAKERS: Women Who Make America” and many more. McGee is the Founder and Executive Producer of AOL’s MAKERS.

Dyllan McGee is a two-time Emmy award-winning filmmaker as well as the founder and executive producer of McGee Media, a documentary film company dedicated to producing content that inspires a more fair and equitable world (founded with her husband, Mark Weigel.). She is also the founder and executive producer of the Oath brand MAKERS, a media platform for the female pioneers of today and tomorrow. Recent McGee Media projects include: Africa’s Great Civilizations (PBS); Rancher, Farmer, Fisherman (Discovery); Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates, Jr.; and First In Human (Discovery). McGee recently directed MAKERS: Once and For All, a feature documentary presented by AOL, that tells the story of the 1995 UN Conference on Women in Beijing. Executive Producer credits include: the Emmy award-nominated 6-part MAKERS series on women in space, Hollywood, politics, war, comedy, and business (AOL/PBS); Emmy Award-nominated documentary, Gloria: In Her Own Words (HBO); Emmy and Peabody Award-winning, The African Americans: Many Rivers to Cross (PBS); Emmy Award-winning, Teddy: In His Own Words (HBO); Faces of America with Henry Louis Gates, Jr. (PBS); This Emotional Life (PBS); African American Lives (PBS); Oprah’s Roots (PBS); and Emmy-nominated, In Memoriam; 9/11/01 (HBO). Dyllan served as the Director of Content and Operations for the International Freedom Center at Ground Zero in New York, a cultural institution that was proposed as part of the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation’s redevelopment of the World Trade Center site. In 2014, McGee was presented with the New York Women in Communications’ Matrix Award and the Planned Parenthood Visionary award for her work preserving women’s stories. She served on the boards of The Gordon Parks Foundation and The Taft School. She lives in Waccabuc, NY, with her husband and two sons.
